Main Hall of Qena's Dendera Temple Has Been Completely Restored

The main hall of Dendera Temple - one of the best-preserved temple complexes in Egypt, dedicated to worshipping the goddess Hathor in what is now the governorate of Qena - has been totally restored by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

The ministry plans on continuing their restoration project throughout the rest of Dendera Temple in the hopes of transforming it into one of Egypt’s biggest heritage sites. Along with the main hall, the temple’s main gate, great pillared hall and maternity house (also known as the Mamzi) have also seen a glow-up, having all been thoroughly cleaned and touched up.

As part of the ministry’s efforts to turn it into a tourist destination, the temple was equipped with a lighting system to show off its beauty and make it easier to navigate.

Several restorations of archeological sites are now in full swing across Egypt’s cultural hotspots. The ministry is committed to finishing most of these ongoing projects before the upcoming winter.
