New UAE Service Automatically Renews Passports & Emirates IDs

The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security launched an automatic renewal service for passports and Emirates ID cards for senior citizens and people of determination under the Taqdeer Package, removing the need for applications or in-person procedures for eligible groups. Developed with the Ministry of Community Empowerment, the initiative will see the authority monitor expiry dates for eligible citizens’ Emirates ID cards and passports. When a document nears expiry, it will be renewed automatically, printed, and delivered to the registered residence before the expiry date, provided the individual is enrolled in the scheme and meets eligibility criteria, including being part of social support programmes. According to the authority, the project is fully digital and reduces the renewal process from three steps to zero for those covered. It forms part of the second cycle of the United Arab Emirates’ Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme, which aims to streamline public services across the country.
