Nominations Open for 2027 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity

Nominations have opened for the 2027 edition of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity, with submissions accepted through the award’s official website until October 1st. The annual global prize recognises individuals and organisations working to advance peace and humanitarian efforts across sectors including health, education and sustainability.
Each year, laureates receive USD 1 million, with winners typically announced in February and honoured at a ceremony in Abu Dhabi. The award was established following the visit of Pope Francis to the UAE in 2019 and has since recognised 20 winners from 20 countries. Honourees’ work has spanned areas such as healthcare, education, sustainability, refugee support, community development, food relief and the empowerment of youth and women.
Recipients of the 2026 edition included a Palestinian non-profit organisation, contributors to peace efforts between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and Afghan education advocate Zarqa Yaftali. Winners were selected by an independent global judging committee comprising Charles Michel, Moussa Faki Mahamat, Catherine Russell, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Jose Tolentino de Mendonca and Mohamed Abdelsalam.

The 2026 winners were honoured on February 4th, recognised globally as the International Day of Human Fraternity, during a ceremony at the Founder’s Memorial.
