Burj Al Arab to Close for 18 Months for Interior Restoration
French interior architect Tristan Auer will lead a phased restoration to refresh interiors while preserving the hotel’s design identity.
Burj Al Arab will temporarily close for 18 months to undergo a comprehensive interior restoration programme led by Tristan Auer.
The project, announced by Jumeirah, will focus on enhancing, preserving and upgrading the hotel’s interiors while maintaining its original design identity.
The phased restoration follows more than 25 years of continuous operation and is intended to refresh the property’s décor while retaining its distinctive character.
Thomas B. Meier, Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah, said the programme marks a new phase in the evolution of the hotel, which has been positioned as a landmark property within the group’s portfolio.
The restoration will be overseen by Auer, whose previous work includes projects such as Hôtel de Crillon and Les Bains Douches.
The hotel comprises 198 suites and features interiors incorporating materials such as Swarovski crystals, marble and gold leaf.
The upgrade is designed to maintain the property’s status as a flagship hospitality destination while adapting its interior environment to current standards.
