Princess Nourah University Launches Initiative for Saudi Craftswomen
The scheme focuses on training, sustainable economic projects, and partnerships to preserve national heritage within the handicrafts sector.

Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University has launched an initiative to support and empower craftswomen across Saudi society. The scheme seeks to preserve national heritage and enhance its role in the field of handicrafts. Held at the university’s college headquarters in Riyadh, the initiative focuses on specialised educational and training programmes, developing handicrafts into sustainable economic projects, and creating opportunities for cooperation and partnerships.
As part of the initiative, four specialised training workshops will be organised by handicrafts academies. Each workshop will include practical application sessions designed to help participants refine their skills. The sessions will also support the production of innovative works by participants within the workshop format.
The initiative establishes an interactive space for craftswomen and academics. The interactive setting is intended to facilitate the exchange of experiences, expertise and ideas that contribute to the development of the handicrafts sector. The exchange will take place within the university setting and in conjunction with the structured training offered by the academies.
A closing exhibition will showcase the pieces created during the workshops. The exhibition is planned as part of the programme’s sequence, following the training and practical sessions, and will present the outputs produced by participants during the workshops.
