Railway Tickets to Be Sold to Foreigners in US Dollars

As part of the Egyptian government’s efforts to pay for renovations of the country’s extensive railway system, train tickets will now be sold to all foreigners in US dollars.

The sale of these tickets is expected to generate around $40 million in the coming year.

The decision came shortly after another recent move by the Egyptian National Railways, which had applied a separate tariff for foreigners using air-conditioned trains earlier this August.
