Real-Time Noise Monitoring Stations Installed in Port Said & Menoufia
The combined 42 stations across the country allow for planning of solutions to combat noise pollution.
The Ministry for Environment has announced the completion of the first two real-time noise monitoring stations in Port Said and Menoufia, allowing the collection of data on noise pollution in two of the most populated cities in the Nile Delta. The implementation of these stations falls within the framework of the government’s Sustainable Development Strategy 2030.
The stations have been installed at the Faculty of Specific Education at Port Said University and the Shebeen El Kom Culture Palace in Menoufia. With the total number of monitoring stations now standing at 42, the National Network for Monitoring Noise Levels (NNMNL) is equipped with data from across the country, allowing it to implement solutions that seek to reduce noise pollution.
Furthermore, the stations will allow the NNMNL to produce a map of relative noise levels in different areas, which will be used when implementing new facilities and major national projects such as highways, bridges, schools and hospitals.
