Safe Egypt Launches Campaign to Protect Children From Sexual Abuse

Safe Egypt, which has long led national efforts to combat child abuse, is launching the first level of its comprehensive programme addressing sexual abuse prevention.

Following more than a year of testing and implementation in 56 educational and childcare facilities, the organisation is now officially rolling out Level One of the ‘Shield Program’. The programme targets caregivers and professionals across institutions where children are present — from nurseries and schools to play areas and activity centres.

The first level uses an integrated approach that engages both adults and children to help establish a safer environment. It begins with a teaching component built around Safe’s storybook ‘I’m Precious’, which introduces the foundations of sexual-abuse awareness. Children then receive further guidance on self-protection and setting personal boundaries. At the same time, caregivers and professionals are trained to understand the dynamics of sexual assault and to adopt effective response strategies should a case arise.

“Awareness is the first shield against abuse,” Sara Aziz, the founder of Safe Egypt, tells CairoScene. “The Safe Shield program gives caregivers the tools and skills they need to protect children, reduce risks, and build a culture of respect for boundaries.”

With additional levels under development, Safe Egypt will introduce Level One of Safe Shield through an online webinar open to all educational institutions. The organisation will announce the date on its social platforms soon.
