Saudi Arabia & China Launch Media Business Accelerator
The accelerator, which will run for three to four months, aims to position Saudi Arabia as a global media hub.
The Saudi Media Academy, on behalf of the Ministry of Media, launched a media business accelerator in collaboration with eWTP Arabia Capital, a Chinese venture capital firm; Saudi Cloud Computing Company, a part of Alibaba; and the Chinese Fujian Youth Federation.
The accelerator was announced during the Saudi-Chinese Media Entrepreneurs Forum which coincided with the visit of a senior delegation from Fujian, one of China’s provincial economic power houses with strong media sector expertise.
The initiative aims to foster growth in the media sector by providing entrepreneurs and startups with mentorship and the resources needed to develop their businesses and achieve their full potential. The goal is to leverage the strengths of both countries to position the kingdom as a global innovation hub in media technology, create new media industries and support localization.
The accelerator program will run for 3 to 4 months and will include eight to 12 early-stage startups identified as having high growth potential across several subsectors, including AI in media, digital content creation, media analytics, and interactive media and gaming. The program will feature various phases, from mentoring and networking events with industry leaders, to training, including workshops and courses on various business and technological topics.
