Saudi Arabia Contributed Over USD 6 Billion to Water Projects Globally
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman announces that Saudi Arabia has contributed more than USD 6 billion to 200 water-related projects across 60 countries.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, announced that the Kingdom has contributed over USD 6 billion to support 200 water-related development projects across more than 60 developing countries worldwide. His remarks were made during the One Water Summit in Riyadh.
Crown Prince Mohammed emphasized that the world is facing an escalating water crisis, with increasing drought levels driving water scarcity. This growing shortage could lead to a number of environmental crises, including desertification, which poses a direct threat to human societies and ecosystems.
The One Water Summit is designed to contribute to the ongoing United Nations discussions around water governance and the achievement of SDG 6, which focuses on clean water and sanitation for all. The summit’s goal is to scale up water-related projects by fostering partnerships between governments, international organizations, businesses, scientific experts, NGOs, and civil society, much like previous One Planet Summits.
