Saudi Arabia’s Team Falcons made history by being crowned the first-ever Esports World Cup (EWC) Club Champions after an electrifying performance at Boulevard Riyadh City, clinching the coveted USD 7 million first prize.
Heading into the penultimate day of the competition last week, Team Falcons held a commanding lead with 4,160 points, well ahead of its closest challenger, Team Liquid from the Netherlands with 2,545 points, who fell short in the Tekken 8 tournament, followed by South Korean team T1 at 1,600 points. The points were collected by having clubs compete across a variety of games, including League of Legends, Street Fighter VI, Fortnite and more.
Team Falcons’ victory sets the stage for another thrilling event at the SEF Arena this week, where the Grand Finals for StarCraft II, EA SPORTS FC 24, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will take place. The Esports World Cup will conclude with a Closing Ceremony on August 25th, where Team Falcons will be officially crowned the 2024 EWC Club Champions.
