Sheikha Bodour Appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador
She will support UNESCO’s World Book Capital programme and brings experience as president of the American University of Sharjah and former International Publishers Association president.
Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi has been appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Education and Book Culture.
UNESCO highlighted Sheikha Bodour’s extensive leadership in the fields of education and publishing, noting her current role as President of the American University of Sharjah and her previous tenure as President of the International Publishers Association. The Organisation also recognized her global initiatives that promote reading, publishing, cultural development, and youth innovation and entrepreneurship.
As part of her mandate, Sheikha Bodour will support the advancement of UNESCO’s World Book Capital Programme. The Organisation also noted that she hails from the Emirate of Sharjah, which was named World Book Capital in 2019.
