Sleeping Trains Will Operate Between Cairo & Alexandria for First Time
Starting September 5th, four new sleeping trains will be introduced between Cairo, Alexandria and Aswan.
Starting September 5th, 2024, four new sleeping trains between Cairo, Alexandria and Aswan will be launched on a one-month trial period. The Egyptian National Railways announced that the new service’s trains will consist of two sleeping cars, one buffet car and five new Russian air-conditioned second-class cars.
On the first day, September 5th, two trains will begin their trial period. The 1083, operating on Sundays and Thursdays only, will depart from Cairo at 7:20 AM and arrive in Alexandria at 10:05 AM. The 1088, also operating only on Sundays and Fridays, departs from Alexandria at 7:20 PM to arrive in Aswan at 12:00 PM the next day.
Train 1089 will launch on Friday, September 6th, and will operate on Fridays and Mondays, departing from Aswan at 7:40 PM and arriving in Alexandria at 11:20 AM. Meanwhile on Saturday, September 7th, train 1082 will begin operating on Saturdays and Tuesdays, departing from Alexandria at 7:20 PM and arriving in Cairo at 10:00 PM.
Finally, starting September 15th, the existing train from Cairo to Aswan, number 1902, will be modified to depart from Alexandria at 8:10 PM and arrive in Aswan at 1:20 PM.
