Telecom Companies Increase Service Prices for First Time Since 2017
The companies are citing increased equipment import costs, energy consumption and fuel costs for the price adjustments.
Mobile service prices in Egypt are set to increase by 10 to 17% starting in February 2024. This will be the first price hike since 2017, attributed to high operating costs amid inflation rates.
Orange Egypt, Vodafone Egypt, Etisalat Misr, and WE are the four companies operating mobile networks in Egypt. Orange Egypt will increase the value of monthly billing packages by about 16% and offer free data to customers. Etisalat Misr will raise monthly subscriptions by 15%, while WE will implement price increases of 10-15% for prepaid and billing customers.
Telecom Egypt, the only operator of ground services and listed telecommunications company, reported currency exchange losses of EGP 4.581 billion in Q1 2023.
