‘The Voice of Hind Rajab’ Earns BAFTA 2026 Nomination
Inspired by the final calls of 6-year-old Hind Rajab to the Red Crescent in Gaza City, the Red Sea Fund-backed film is nominated at the 2026 BAFTA Awards.
‘Voice of Hind Rajab’ has been nominated in the Best Film Not in the English Language category at the 2026 BAFTA Awards, marking a major international milestone for the Red Sea Fund-backed feature directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania.
The film is based on the final moments of six-year-old Hind Rajab, who was fleeing Gaza City with six family members when their vehicle came under fire from the Israeli military.
Hind’s recorded phone calls with the Palestine Red Crescent Society, in which she pleaded for rescue, circulated widely at the time and drew international outrage. ‘Voice of Hind Rajab’ will compete in the category alongside ‘It Was Just an Accident’ by Iranian director Jafar Panahi.
The Cannes Palme d’Or-winning political thriller follows a former prisoner who kidnaps a man he believes tortured him, forcing a reckoning among fellow dissidents over revenge and forgiveness.
The BAFTA nomination places Ben Hania’s film among the most prominent international releases of the year and underscores the growing global presence of films supported by regional funding bodies such as Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Fund.
