UK Gifts Egypt with 4 Million Doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine
The shipment comes as part of the COVAX initiative in cooperation with GAVI, an international entity tasked with ensuring the fair and equitable distribution of vaccines.
The United Kingdom has sent Egypt an additional four million doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine - one of the European country’s largest bilateral vaccine donations across the world.
The shipment comes as part of the COVAX initiative in cooperation with GAVI, an international entity tasked with ensuring the fair and equitable distribution of vaccines.
Just like all other imported vaccinations, the shipment will be subject to analysis by the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) before being distributed across vaccination centers. AstraZeneca was one of the first vaccines to be approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization (WHO) and is taken in two doses 28 days apart.
