Aura Turns the Lebanese Tarwiquh into a Poolside Affair

Cairo doesn’t usually do slow mornings. The city likes its espresso short, its falafel quick, and its day already in motion before you’ve even gotten dressed. Aura, however, has other ideas. At Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence, breakfast now lingers past noon, unfurling by the pool in true Tarwiquh style.Tarwiquh is Lebanon’s love letter to late mornings: a table where dishes keep arriving and nobody asks about the time. Chef Ahmed Zoghbi remembers these breakfasts from childhood - family gathered, plates multiplying, conversations running longer than the coffee pot. At Aura, he’s recreated that rhythm with a spread that could double as a culinary memoir.Flaky hand-stretched feteer shows up glossy with molasses and tahini. Manakish slides in, still warm from the oven. There’s grilled halloumi with its golden char, fava beans slow-cooked to comfort, falafel that crunches before it melts. The pool glints in the sun, the Nile frames the scene, and Cairo’s usual noise fades into something that almost feels like leisure. Plates are passed, salads appear, bread disappears, and by the time you notice the clock again, it’s already two in the afternoon.
