Chef Kareem Abdelrahman Offers a Privatised Iftar Experience

This Ramadan, Chef Kareem Abdelrahmdan - founder and Executive Chef of Avec Karim, a catering and private dining company based in Cairo - invites guests to experience iftar the Avec Karim way. Trained at Ecole Ducasse, Karim has built a career focused on elevating Egyptian cuisine, catering for distinguished brands and global events including Dior and Paris Fashion Week.

The evening begins with salad, soup, and appetisers: green apple, arugula, and verbena salad, mushroom truffle velouté, signature truffle sambousak and braised oxtail rokak. The progression moves from crisp and herbaceous to warm and velvety, layering bright notes with deep, slow-cooked richness in a way that feels both familiar and elevated.
Guests can then choose a main course between tender lamb casserole and stuffed baby chicken with saffron, with each dish taking from classic Ramadan flavours. The braised lamb shank features saffron potatoes, lamb jus with dried fruits and a yogurt coriander dip, while the stuffed baby chicken is served with sausage, vegetables, saffron butter sauce, and saffron rice.
To close, the dessert buffet selection features riz au lait, pistachio strawberry yogurt, warm pumpkin béchamel with dates and caramelised pecans, and lemon tart with peppermint meringue.
The experience is currently running until March 9th at his pop-up restaurant 'Le Bistrot by Avec Karim' in Walk of Cairo.
