Seven Levantine Food Heroes Take Over Zaroob for S2 Street Food Heroes

Dubai’s street food scene is about to get a whole lot louder.

Zaroob and NoGarlicNoOnions (NGNO) are back with Season 2 of Street Food Heroes, a three-month takeover running from September through November. And this time, they’re introducing seven new culinary rockstars you’ll want to know.

The concept is simple but irresistible: celebrate the unsung masters of Levantine cooking (the saj bakers, mezze wizards, and herb whisperers) and give them a stage in one of Dubai’s busiest kitchens. It’s about flavour, sure, but also stories, heritage, and the people who’ve been perfecting these dishes long before “street food” became a buzzword.

If you don’t already know the players: Zaroob is Dubai’s neon-lit love letter to Levantine alleys, where saj bread meets open kitchens and mezze spills out in colourful chaos. NGNO, meanwhile, is the brainchild of Lebanese food critic Anthony Rahayel: a platform that grew from blog and YouTube channel into a movement that champions small vendors, hidden gems, and street food culture across the region. Rahayel has spent years tracking down these heroes, giving them the spotlight they deserve.

“A hero is someone who masters the art, bringing not only know-how but also passion and emotion into every dish,” Rahayel shares with SceneNowUAE.

That energy makes Zaroob the perfect co-pilot. With buzzing dining rooms and a menu that already celebrates Levantine street eats, it’s now doubling down on flavour, stories, and the chefs behind them.

Season 1? A hit. Season 2? Even bigger. Expect rotating menus, surprising flavour combos, and moments where every dish tells you as much about the chef as it does about the street it came from.
