Houseplant | 022 - Azzouni
Azzouni is the co-founder of MOSHTRQ, an Egyptian multi-disciplinary collective of independent musicians and visual artists.

Azzouni is one of the most riotous DJs and producers in Cairo’s underground dance scene, making his mark with his signature genre-hyphenated experimental sets that dabble in everything from ambient and breakbeat to grime, jungle and deconstructed club. He’s also the co-founder of MOSHTRQ, an Egyptian multi-disciplinary collective of independent musicians and visual artists envisaging a more leftfield, industrial soundtrack to Cairo.
For this episode of the new season of SceneNoise’s long-running stream series, ‘Houseplant’, we invite Azzouni into the heart of a lush Cairine greenhouse, where he takes us on a journey into the current sound that he has been exploring. We let ourselves get immersed in a leftfield bass mix that jumps from intricate drumfunk into warped, dubwise half-time and back again.
