These Ramadan Ads Turn 10 This Year
Ten years later, and we still find ourselves humming them without even trying.
Every Ramadan leaves us with more than just memories of iftar tables and late-night gatherings – it leaves us with songs. Songs born from TV ads that somehow become part of the holy month’s soundtrack. Some follow us long after Ramadan ends, while others instantly transport us back to the spirit of the month from the very first note.
This year, these Ramadan advertisement songs turn 10 years old – all the way from 2016, back when Ramadan was in summer. And somehow, they’ve never really left us.
Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation
The Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation’s campaign brought together a constellation of celebrities alongside the foundation’s founder himself, Sir Magdi Yacoub. The result was a powerful reminder of hope, humanity, and the collective power of giving, wrapped in a song that still lingers in memory.
Vodafone
'El Eila El Kebira' remains one of Ramadan’s most iconic advertisements. It captured exactly what Ramadan feels like: eating together, gathering, reconnecting, and finally meeting the people we only seem to see during this month. Featuring beloved icons like Hakim, Laila Eloui, Samir Ghanem, Esaad Younis, Sherine, and many more – It stopped being a campaign and turned into pop culture.
Etisalat
With Assala’s voice leading the way, Etisalat’s 2016 Ramadan ad quickly became a hit. The campaign highlighted how Etisalat had become part of the everyday lives of over 30 million Egyptians, creating moments of connection, emotion, and togetherness.
Orange
Orange took a lighter, more comedic route with three different versions of its Ramadan ad, starring the entertaining duo Ahmed Fahmy and Akram Hosny. From the hectic pace of Ramadan days in the city, to the laid-back fasting days in Sahel, and even Egypt’s never-ending football obsession, the campaign captured the many faces and moods of Ramadan life.
Pepsi
Featuring Abu’s voice, Pepsi’s campaign stood out for blending music with purpose. The ad followed the journey of a Pepsi bottle - from factory, delivery trucks, dining tables and recycling - to highlight Pepsi’s CSR initiatives, including bringing electricity to three villages in Upper Egypt, proving that together, we can make a change.
Coca-Cola
Coca-Cola’s Ramadan campaign, carried by the warm, motherly voice of Aida El Ayoubi, celebrated the hero of every Ramadan table: the mother. The ad highlighted how Ramadan gathers families together, with mothers at the heart of every iftar, every gathering, and every act of limitless giving that defines the month.
