XP & Badiyah Studio Launch ‘Ashoo’ to Spotlight Saudi Musical Heritag
Directed by Chndy and Abu Hamdan, ‘ASHOO’ shines a spotlight on the unsung heroes of Saudi music.
In collaboration with Badiya Studio, XP Music Futures presents ‘ASHOO’, a six-part docu-series that delves into Saudi Arabia’s evolving music scene. Directed by Chndy and Abu Hamdan, ‘ASHOO’ shines a spotlight on the unsung heroes of Saudi music - artists who have long existed but never had the platform to showcase their talents.
The series takes a raw and honest approach, offering intimate interviews with key figures who have helped shape the Kingdom’s cultural landscape. By emphasizing traditional sounds and rhythms, ‘ASHOO’ highlights Saudi Arabia’s musical heritage in cultural settings, creating a deep connection between the audience and the country’s rich sonic history.
"In this project, we believe these stories are important and often overlooked. Our aim was to capture them as authentically and honestly as possible by allowing the people to tell their own stories in their own words,” Chndy and Abu Hamdan tell SceneNoise. “Through this approach, we have been able to showcase the raw emotions, passion, history, and love that these individuals have for their craft and interests. It was essential to us to preserve the integrity of their narratives, providing a window into their worlds that are both genuine and powerful."
Launched on August 10th and leading up to Saudi National Day on September 23rd, the series aims to bring these stories to life authentically, allowing the artists to share their narratives in their own words. As ‘ASHOO’ peels back the layers of Saudi’s vibrant music culture, it offers viewers an unprecedented look into a world of passion, history, and artistry that has long remained in the shadows.
