Egypt's First Cable Wakeboarding Nationals Heads to El Gouna

Egypt's cable wakeboarding scene is set for a landmark moment on September 4th, when Sliders Cable Park in El Gouna hosts the country's first Cable Wakeboarding Nationals.

The championship will welcome riders of all nationalities competing for the overall title, while Egyptian athletes will also battle for places on the national podium, with the results contributing to the selection of Egypt's national cable wakeboarding team. The event is organised by Buzz Events, founded by Nahed Hamy, alongside co-organiser Norshek Fawzy, under the Egyptian Sailing & Water Ski Federation.

"It started with my kids' love for wakeboarding, but over time, I've seen firsthand the positive impact it can have on young athletes—the confidence, discipline and sense of community it creates," says Fawzy. "To now play a role in making Egypt's first Nationals happen is something I'm incredibly proud of."

For Nahed Hamy, the event is about recognising how far the local wakeboarding scene has come. "As an organiser, a watersports enthusiast and a mother of young riders, seeing our athletes come together, compete and have the chance to represent Egypt makes me incredibly proud," she says.

Ahmed Habash, Ex-Olympian and Federation President, echoed this sentiment: "Having the Cable Wakeboarding Nationals at Sliders Cable Park is a great step forward for watersports in Egypt, and I'm grateful to El Gouna for its continued support of the Federation and its contribution to our watersports community."

The competition will take place at Sliders Cable Park, with One Club supporting athlete bookings and training. Already established as one of Egypt's leading watersports destinations, El Gouna provides a fitting setting for a championship that not only crowns the country's first national cable wakeboarding champions, but also lays the foundation for Egypt's future presence on the international stage.
