Harrods Collaborates With Qatari Artist Mbarak Al-Thani for Ramadan

England’s famous luxury store Harrods has teamed up with Qatari artist Mbarak Al-Thani to create customised artwork for Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr. The artwork - a pattern of geometric shapes reminiscent of Islamic art - will be featured in Harrods’ Knightsbridge location in London as well as on several digital spaces, from digital greetings sent by Harrods to the screens within their food hall.

Al-Thani’s patterns are based on Harrod’s façade, which is adorned with intricate mashrabiya-style patterns. These motifs, a nod to the architectural legacy of the Arab world, were incorporated in 1929 by architect Louis D. Blanc. Al-Thani’s design is also based on patterns from India’s 16th Century Mughal Agra Fort and the diamond-shaped medallion typically found in Persian Kashan rugs.
