Rasha Pasha Brings Regal Edge to FW24/25 With ‘Royal Rock’ Collection

For her eponymous label’s FW24/25 collection, Egyptian designer Rasha El Gammal is adding a rebellious touch of rock and roll to her signature style, all while honouring her roots. Titled ‘Royal Rock’, the collection blends the edgy aesthetics of studs, leather and tight jeans with regal Egyptian influences, creating a unique intersection of modern rebellion and historic grandeur.

“I’ve always thought I’d do something with a rock theme. I love the studs, the leather, the tight jeans - everything rebellious, really,” Rasha El Gammal tells SceneStyled. “But ‘Royal Rock’ brings in this sense of historic, gothic royalty. Think rock meets the Khedivate of Egypt.” 

This theme is exemplified by standout pieces like studded belts adorned with King Tut coins, a nod to Egypt’s royal past, reimagined with a rock and roll twist. The collection also marks a shift in Rasha Pasha’s typical design palette. Known for vibrant colours, El Gammal has opted for more subdued tones in this collection - deep purples and muted greens - crafted from damask, a fabric traditionally used in upholstery.

Patchwork, intricate appliqué and Rasha’s signature Khayamiya techniques infuse the collection with hand-crafted finesse, while the elaborate, costume-like cuts echo the flamboyant style of rock legends like The Beatles in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Amongst the standout pieces in the collection is a top proudly showcasing a colourful snake, which for El Gammal represents both royalty and rock. “My beloved flowery snake - snakes are a personal favourite of mine,” Rasha shares. “Some people fear them, but in Egyptian culture, they symbolise royal protection.” This motif, woven into the collection, highlights the balance between danger and protection, rebellion and regality.

As El Gammal puts it, “This is rock, Rasha Pasha style. It’s Egyptian rock and roll.”
