Standing atop a bed of golden sand is AlUla’s Maraya, an entertainment venue and cultural centre that draws on the mirage-like imagery saturating Arabian deserts. Recognised as the world’s largest mirror building by the Guinness Book of Records in 2020, its exterior literally reflects the historic landscapes that line its periphery. The venue is currently home to an archival collection of late artist Andy Warhol’s works, with the star-studded gallery serving as a mere glimpse into the celebrities that walk through its mirror-clad gates. Over the past few years, the likes of Alicia Keys, Kadim Al Saher, Asala Nasri and Usher took to the ampitheatre’s stage and delivered odes to the ancient city’s rich legacy.
