Riyadh Metro Launches Red & Green Lines
The sixth and final line, the Orange Line, is set to open on January 5th, 2025, completing the metro’s full 176 KM network.
Riyadh's metro network has launched its Red and Green Lines, officially opening five of its six lines to the public.
The Red Line, running 25.1 KM along King Abdullah Road from King Fahd Sport City to King Saud University, connects 15 stations, including the Riyadh Exhibition Centre. The Green Line, covering 13.3 KM along King Abdulaziz Road, connects major government and residential zones with 12 stations, including those serving key institutions like the Ministry of Finance.
The final line, the Orange Line, is set to open on January 5th, 2025, completing the metro’s full 176 KM network. The Riyadh Metro is expected to reduce the city’s reliance on cars, improve mobility, and lower carbon emissions with its renewable energy solutions.
The metro offers a variety of ticket options, including two-hour journeys for SAR 4, and extended passes, with the option to purchase tickets via the Darb app, which also integrates the metro system with the Riyadh Bus Project.
