Phlog & Ali Zaraay Announce Open Call for Photos on ‘Displacement’
Selected images will be exhibited by photography platform Phlog as part of the upcoming Cairo Design Week.
Photography platform Phlog has collaborated with Egyptian visual artist and documentary photographer Ali Zaraay to announce an open call for any image-makers from the Arab region, in search of photos that tell a story of ‘displacement’.
The open call aims to discover images that question the meaning of ‘home’, especially when its existence remains only in memory and nostalgia. Selected images, or sets of images, will tell a story of the importance of extant memories and relationships inexorably tied to places that no longer exist, or at least not as they once did.
Selected images will be showcased by Phlog as part of the upcoming Cairo Design Week, in an exhibition spotlighting diverse themes of displacement including forced migration, climate exile and social ostracization. The deadline for this open call is February 10th, so for more details and to find out how to enter, visit @phlog_ on Instagram.
