Dubai Launches Microbiome IP Initiative With Crescent Enterprises

A new Global Microbiome Ecosystem has been launched in Dubai, creating a platform dedicated to advancing microbiome research and development with a focus on longevity, wellness and high-value intellectual property.

The initiative was unveiled during The Microbiome Revolution symposium and is led by the Dubai Future Foundation and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, in collaboration with UAE-based multinational Crescent Enterprises. It is designed to integrate research institutions, innovators, investors and policymakers into a single ecosystem, supporting talent development and translating scientific research into commercially and clinically relevant outcomes.

The platform builds on Crescent Enterprises’ activity as an investor in microbiome innovation and aims to evaluate pathways for responsible clinical adoption and international scaling of microbiome-based health solutions. Organisers said the ecosystem is intended to strengthen Dubai’s role in frontier science by aligning research, regulation and market access within a single framework.

“Dubai’s innovation and regulatory sandbox frameworks position the city as a natural home for the global microbiome sector, enabling a connected ecosystem that brings together research institutions, innovators, investors, policymakers, and global partners,” said Khalifa Al Qama, Chief of Research, Development and Innovation at Dubai RDI under the Dubai Future Foundation.

The announcement was made at the opening of The Microbiome Revolution: Unlocking the Gut–Brain Axis for the Future of Health, a symposium hosted by CE-Ventures that brought together more than 150 researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs and policymakers to discuss emerging directions in microbiome science and precision health.
