AI-Powered Electric Taxis With Real-Time Translation Launches in Dubai
The feature sits within a wider redesign of the taxi experience developed with Kia, with the new PV5 vehicles co-designed alongside Dubai Taxi engineers since 2021.

Dubai Taxi Company has begun introducing a 100% electric taxi fleet equipped with built-in artificial-intelligence translation that enables passengers and drivers to communicate in real time across languages.
The feature sits within a wider redesign of the taxi experience developed with Kia, with the new PV5 vehicles co-designed alongside Dubai Taxi engineers since 2021 to address seating, luggage space and accessibility needs. The AI tool is integrated into the taxi’s smart meter and infotainment system, consolidating trip information, fare visibility and digital payments, and connecting wirelessly to ride-hailing platforms such as Bolt to remove multiple in-car devices.
The smart meter feeds live data to Dubai Taxi’s operation and control centre, supported by four in-car cameras that monitor driving behaviour, passenger safety and driver fatigue.
The PV5 model emphasises sustainability beyond its electric drivetrain, with recycled interior materials and modular layouts that enable airport, city and wheelchair-accessible variants. The rollout forms part of the emirate’s Green Mobility Strategy 2030, which targets a fully zero-emission public transport fleet within the decade, and follows a commitment by the Roads and Transport Authority to convert all taxis to hybrid, electric or hydrogen models by 2027.
