Bridge From Shaikh Zayed Road to Dubai Harbour Reaches 65% Completion
The Roads and Transport Authority says the new link will cut travel time to Dubai Harbour from 12 minutes to three minutes.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has confirmed that a new bridge providing direct access between Shaikh Zayed Road and Dubai Harbour has reached 65% completion, with the project expected to significantly reduce journey times once operational.
According to the RTA, the 1,500-metre bridge will shorten travel time between the two areas from around 12 minutes to approximately three minutes. The structure will feature two lanes in each direction and is designed to handle up to 6,000 vehicles per hour. Completion is targeted for the third quarter of 2026.
The bridge extends from Interchange 5 on Shaikh Zayed Road, near the American University in Dubai, passing the Al Naseem Street and Al Falak Street junction, crossing King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, and connecting directly to Dubai Harbour Street.
In parallel, the project includes at-grade upgrades at four key intersections along the corridor: Interchange 5 on Shaikh Zayed Road; Al Falak Street with Al Naseem Street; King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street with Al Naseem Street; and Dubai Harbour Street. The RTA said 90% of utility relocation and upgrades linked to the project have already been completed, alongside traffic diversions to maintain vehicle flow during construction.
Dubai Harbour, located between Bluewaters Island and Palm Jumeirah, is undergoing large-scale development across a 1.5-kilometre waterfront stretch. The area includes residential, retail and leisure components, including a residential complex of 24 towers housing approximately 7,500 apartments, increasing demand for direct road access to Shaikh Zayed Road.
