Digital X-Ray Scanning System Introduced In 34 Egyptian Hospitals
Digital x-ray scanning will allow patients to receive medical instructions and diagnoses without a doctor’s physical presence across 34 hospitals.

34 hospitals across 15 governorates in Egypt are fully equipped to digitally analyse x-ray scans, part of the Egyptian healthcare system’s digital transformation. The digital x-ray scanning service will allow patients to receive diagnosis and x-ray analysis without a specialised doctor’s physical presence. The scans are made on hospital premises and the data is instantly transferred to a remote team of x-ray specialists who accordingly give patients analysis and medical instructions.
The digital system is a more efficient approach to the medical process, saving x-ray film roll costs while allowing patients to get a faster response, especially during emergencies.
The new service will also include a digital archiving system, documenting patients’ x-ray records and medical history, eventually paving the way for research opportunities through the acquired data, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
The system has already been implemented in 15 hospitals including El Hammam Central Hospital in Alexandria, Marsa Matrouh Hospital, El Alamein Hospital, and Aswan Specialized Hospital and is set to begin operating in other hospitals soon.
