Egypt & Saudi Arabia Partner to Localise Medical Supplies Production
The collaboration will involve transferring Egyptian technical expertise to support the Saudi side’s localisation efforts.
Egypt and Saudi Arabia have agreed to launch a joint initiative aimed at localising the production of medical supplies, beginning with hemodialysis filters.
As part of the plan, a delegation led by Saudi Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs Khalid bin Saleh Al-Mudaifer visited a Cairo-based plant operated by Wadi El-Nile Stio, where dialysis-filter production lines are already active. Officials reviewed the facility’s manufacturing processes and quality standards, which reportedly meet global benchmarks in compliance with the Egyptian Drug Authority.
The collaboration will involve transferring Egyptian technical expertise to support the Saudi side’s localisation efforts. The goal is to establish manufacturing capacity within Saudi Arabia, under a joint plan agreed by both countries.
Egypt’s authorities emphasised that the initiative aligns with the country’s broader strategy to expand local production of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. Meanwhile, Saudi officials described the partnership as contributing to regional medical-technology capabilities and alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
