Egyptian Railways Launches Mixed Cars Service Between Cairo & Aswan

Egyptian National Railways launched a new mixed cars service between Cairo and Aswan that combines sleeper and premium air‑conditioned carriages within the same train formation for the first time.

The service will operate as train 1090 from Cairo to Aswan beginning on Saturday, February 7th, 2026, and as train 1091 from Aswan to Cairo beginning on Sunday, February 8th, 2026.

Train 1090 will run on Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays, while train 1091 will run on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The new formation pairs sleeper cars with premium air‑conditioned seating (“VIP Premium”) to offer multiple travel options on the same service.

The authority added that the rollout comes as part of its ongoing programme to develop services on the Upper Egypt corridor and improve the travel experience for both citizens and visitors.

Train 1090 will depart from Cairo on the listed operating days and arrive in Aswan the following day, with the return service as train 1091 departing from Aswan on its designated days and arriving in Cairo the following day.

Operations on the Cairo to Aswan leg begin on February 7th, 2026, with the Aswan to Cairo leg commencing on February 8th, 2026.
