Saudi Arabia Ranks First in Statistical Sector in the Arab World

Saudi Arabia has been ranked first among Arab countries in the statistical sector, according to new data announced during the First Saudi Forum for Statistics. The Kingdom has risen 23 places globally compared to 2023, reflecting major progress in the development of its national statistical infrastructure.

The Saudi General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) revealed that 39 new statistical products were introduced over the past year, expanding data coverage across a wide range of economic, social, and environmental sectors. The authority is also working to digitise its entire data collection and analysis processes, integrating artificial intelligence and big data solutions to boost the accuracy, speed, and reliability of statistical outputs.

These improvements position Saudi Arabia as a regional leader in leveraging statistics for policy development, economic planning, and service improvement. Enhanced national indicators are now being used to track development goals, spending efficiency, and service delivery across the Kingdom.

As part of its growing role in global data initiatives, Riyadh will host the sixth United Nations World Data Forum in 2026, bringing together statisticians, policymakers, and data experts from around the world.
