Saudi Arabia Sets New Record of 106.2 Million Visitors in 2023
The Saudi Ministry of Tourism has set a target of 150 million yearly visitors by 2030.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia witnessed a surge in tourism numbers in 2023, welcoming more than 106 million visitors over the year. This figure marks a 12% rise from 2022, and a 56% increase compared to pre-pandemic numbers in 2019.
International tourist arrivals to the Kingdom also saw a significant jump, reaching 27.4 million last year, a 65% increase compared to 2023. These figures are in line with Saudi Arabia’s push towards economic diversification and improving the country’s staturea as a leading destination for global tourism.
This surge in visitor numbers has caused the Saudi Ministry of Tourism to set an ambitious target of 150 million yearly visitors by 2030, the self imposed deadline for the transformative Vision 2030 project that has seen broad and rapid development across the kingdom. Tourism already accounts for more than 4% of Saudi Arabia’s GDP, a significant figure for a country that only opened fully to tourism in the last decade.
