The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has agreed to hold the 2023 Arab League summit on May 19th.
The announcement was made by the Arab League’s Cairo-based block after consultations with the Saudi government and Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the chief of the Arab League. It is speculated that reinstating Syria into the Arab League will be high on the agenda for the summit, a decade after the country’s membership was suspended.
The Arab League’s previous summit took place in Algiers in November 2022.
