The Ministry of Higher Education has officially launched the first pha

The Ministry of Higher Education has officially launched the first phase of the restoration and rehabilitation project for the Faculty of Engineering at Alexandria University. The project supports the broader aim of upgrading university infrastructure to foster an environment conducive to innovation and learning. The restoration work covers the main administration building’s facades and roofs and involves structural strengthening and detailed conservation of original decorative elements. The buildings, initially constructed in the mid-20th century in the distinctive “Neo-Pharaonic” style, are considered important both for their architectural significance and their role in Egypt’s higher education history. As part of the initiative, architecture students from the Faculty of Engineering are participating in field-based assessments and documentation work, gaining practical experience in heritage restoration methods. The project is scheduled to proceed in phases, with future work planned for additional campus buildings and workshops whilst maintaining regular academic operations.
