Three Dubai Parks Will Be Home to Container Style Gyms

Outdoor workouts in Dubai’s public parks could soon get a more structured upgrade. Dubai Municipality has opened applications for investors to set up container-style gyms at three outdoor locations: Al Khawaneej Pond Park, Al Barsha South Park and Al Mamzar Corniche.
Designed using repurposed cargo containers, the gyms are intended to offer shaded, weather-protected workout spaces while maintaining an open-air feel. The concept sits somewhere between a traditional outdoor fitness zone and a fully enclosed gym, making it easier to train year-round without leaving public green spaces.
The municipality has invited applications from Emirati citizens, expatriate residents and private companies interested in operating the facilities. Applications must be submitted through Dubai Municipality’s investment opportunities portal, with a deadline of January 25th, 2026.
Dubai’s parks already host a range of free outdoor gym equipment, particularly along beachfronts and large green spaces. The container-gym model builds on earlier experiments, including mobile gyms installed during the Dubai Fitness Challenge, where 20-foot containers were used to bring structured workout facilities to neighbourhoods without nearby fitness centres.
