Zaafarana Ras Ghareb Road Closed After Dust Storm
Zero visibility from a dust storm led to the closure of a key Red Sea road.
The Zaafarana Ras Ghareb Road was closed in both directions after a dust storm reduced visibility to zero across parts of the northern Red Sea Governorate.
According to the National Control and Emergency Centre, the storm affected Ras Ghareb and surrounding areas, prompting authorities to raise the state of readiness across cities in the governorate.
Further south, light rainfall was recorded in parts of Quseir without significant impact.
Maritime activity was also disrupted. The General Authority for Red Sea Ports closed Nuweiba Port due to adverse weather conditions, including strong winds ranging between 25 and 28 knots and wave heights of 2 to 3 metres, resulting in severe sea turbulence.
The authority suspended all marine operations and activities as a precautionary measure, while continuing to monitor weather developments.
Hurghada Port was also closed as conditions persisted, with northwesterly winds reaching between 27 and 32 knots and similar wave heights recorded.
