Zahi Hawass Launches Campaign to Retrieve Egyptian Artefacts Abroad
The campaign targets some of the most iconic artefacts from Egypt, such as the bust of Nefartari and the Rosetta Stone.
Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass has announced the launch of a large-scale campaign by the Zahi Hawass Foundation for Archaeology and Heritage in September to retrieve Egyptian artefacts that are held abroad.
The campaign will demand the return of the bust of Nefartari from the Neues Museum in Berlin, the Rosetta Stone from the British Museum, and the Dendera Zodiac from the Louvre in Paris.
This announcement was made during a lecture given by Dr. Hawass on recent archaeological discoveries, presented by the famous Italian TV commentator Roberto Giacobbo, in the Italian city of Orvieto. The event was attended by the mayor of the city and many cultural figures.
Dr. Hawass spoke about new archaeological discoveries in Saqqara and Luxor. He added that his foundation would also work towards preserving Egyptian heritage and archaeology.
