Ice Cream Parlour Kazem Reopens in Ajman After Closing in Gaza
After evacuating the genocide in Gaza, Kazem opened a new store in the UAE.

Kazem, the iconic Palestinian ice cream parlour established in northern Gaza in 1950, has reopened for the first time in the United Arab Emirates, setting up shop in Ajman.
The new Ajman location serves Kazem's classics, including its well-known citrusy slushy drink, barrad, alongside traditional ice cream flavours. The choice of Ajman aligns with its sizeable local Palestinian community, allowing visitors to reconnect with familiar tastes and memories.
The reopening follows the closure of its Gaza branch in 2023 due to the ongoing genocide, after the 70-year-old store was demolished by Israeli forces, forcing the evacuation of owner Mohammad Kazem Abu Shaban, whose father founded the parlour.
Looking ahead, Abu Shaban plans to further expand into Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
