Residents Across UAE to Receive Help in Growing Their Own Produce
The initiative will be bolstered by the National Agricultural Centre, which will offer specialized training courses.
A new ‘Plant the Emirates’ initiative aimed at embedding agricultural practices within every school and home across the nation, has been launched, in order to encourage residents to cultivate their own essential agricultural products.
To facilitate this effort, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment will host a series of engaging events connecting residents with local farmers. These sessions will provide valuable insights into which types of food thrive in home environments.
Residents will be guided to grow a diverse array of fruits and vegetables, including lemon, mango, buckthorn, guava, figs, beans, rocket leaves, green onions, okra, lettuce, and radish. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to cultivate medicinal and aromatic plants such as basil, mint, parsley, coriander, and thyme. Training will focus on selecting suitable plants, maintaining soil health, and understanding growth factors for both ornamental and food plants.
The initiative will be further bolstered by the National Agricultural Centre, which will offer specialized training courses for citizens and residents interested in establishing home or commercial farms. These courses will emphasize innovative solutions to enhance crop yields, reduce costs, and improve the supply chain, fostering a sustainable agricultural environment in the UAE.
