Egypt Breaks National Tourism Record With 19 Million Visitors in 2025
The increase outpaces the global average growth rate of 5%, placing Egypt among the fastest-growing tourism destinations globally during the year.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Egypt officially broke its annual tourism target in 2025, setting a new record with nearly 19 million visitors. The increase represents a 21% rise compared to 2024, outpacing the global average growth rate of 5%, and placing Egypt among the fastest-growing tourism destinations globally during the year.
Minister Sherif Fathy reported that the rise was steady throughout the year, with charter flight arrivals increasing by 32% and tourists arriving from nearly 200 cities worldwide. Coastal destinations, including emerging spots such as New Alamein City, experienced notable gains of around 450% in the charter flights, reflecting both leisure and cultural travel demand.
Visits to museums and archaeological sites across Egypt, excluding the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation and the Grand Egyptian Museum, totalled around 18.6 million, which is an increase of 33.5% from the previous year.
The sector’s performance is supported by improved infrastructure, expanded air connectivity, and ongoing coordination with international tour operators. Officials noted that the growth demonstrates sustained interest in the country’s cultural and heritage offerings alongside its beach and city tourism.
