Egypt's First 'Senior Citizens Rally' Breaks Stereotypes About Age

Golden Years Foundation, an online community and foundation dedicated to senior well-being, are encouraging Egypt’s elderly to put their best foot forward with the country’s first senior walking rally. In cooperation with Cairo Runners, Egypt’s leading running community, the rally will take on all challengers at Merryland Park in Heliopolis on October 22nd, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Senior citizens and their families are all encouraged to join in the walk, stand on the sidelines as support, or simply chill out and enjoy the post-event entertainment.

Founded by Dina Hashish, Golden Years Foundation began as a Facebook group during the COVID-19 pandemic, as people reached out to online spaces during lockdown. The group amassed over 20,000 followers, all keen on promoting the importance of healthy aging, both physically and psychologically. Through the foundation, senior citizens have been able to engage in free online activities such as virtual meet-ups, yoga sessions, and art classes.
