Over 200 Ramadan Volunteering Roles Announced in Makkah
The opportunities span guidance, translation, health awareness, environmental initiatives and field support, alongside wider Ramadan volunteer drives in the holy sites.
The General Directorate of Education in the Makkah region is offering more than 200 volunteering opportunities across 13 fields during Ramadan, aimed at supporting pilgrim services and encouraging wider community participation throughout the holy month.
The roles include guiding visitors and assisting pilgrims, alongside organisational duties such as site management, crowd regulation and event support. Social initiatives form part of the programme through humanitarian and community service projects, while general volunteering tracks are available to support ongoing seasonal programmes.
Additional opportunities cover translation services for non-Arabic-speaking visitors, assistance for people with disabilities, cultural programming, and technical support including digital documentation. Environmental initiatives focused on sustainability are also included, alongside training opportunities designed to build volunteer capacity.
Volunteers may also take on security and safety responsibilities, as well as participate in health-related awareness activities. The initiative extends to supporting government agencies in field operations and coordination efforts linked to pilgrim services.
Parallel Ramadan volunteering drives have been launched by the Presidency of Religious Affairs at the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, offering roles in religious guidance, organising worshippers’ rows, monitoring screens and electronic devices, and providing translation and field awareness services.
Umm Al-Qura University has also announced 21 volunteering opportunities, including simultaneous interpretation, first aid, meal distribution for fasting observers, medical services, guidance and counselling, and welcoming pilgrims. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs branch in Makkah has opened 60 roles engaging 405 male and female volunteers to assist with mosque preparation and service operations during Ramadan.
