Sharjah Executive Council Issues New Rules for Economic Activities

A new resolution regulating economic activities has been approved in Sharjah, setting out a framework aimed at strengthening the emirate’s investment environment and supporting sustainable economic growth. The measures are intended to enhance competitiveness, promote economic stability, and make it easier for businesses to operate within a clear and consistent regulatory structure.
The resolution establishes legal provisions governing the practice of economic activities across the emirate, including the roles and competencies of the Sharjah Economic Development Department. It also defines licensing procedures, requirements for licence applicants, and the obligations of licensed establishments. Together, these provisions are designed to streamline processes, clarify responsibilities, and create a more attractive environment for national and foreign investment.
Alongside the economic resolution, a separate decision was approved to establish a Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee in the Emirate of Sharjah. The committee will be responsible for supporting legislative and legal work across government entities, with a defined leadership structure and membership drawn from relevant departments.
During the same session, the council reviewed the Districts Affairs Department’s outcomes report for 2025. The report recorded 1,968 community service requests handled during the year, including urgent cases and family-related matters, and an 88% score in the service quality measurement index. It also noted outreach to more than 5,000 parents through parents’ councils across Sharjah’s cities and regions, alongside a range of community programmes and field initiatives.
