Tadweer Group Launches AI-Powered Waste Firm in Abu Dhabi

Tadweer Group, Abu Dhabi’s waste management authority, has launched a new waste collection company, Tajmee’e, to modernise refuse management and advance sustainability targets. The company will deploy artificial intelligence, real-time monitoring, and predictive analytics to optimise operations, cut fuel use and reduce emissions.

Tajmee’e’s fleet of collection vehicles will be equipped with AI cameras, weight sensors, and onboard computers, enabling trucks to adjust routes dynamically by skipping empty bins and rerouting to full ones while collecting detailed waste data. Bins across the city will also be fitted with fill-level sensors to track both volume and contents. Route optimisation alone is projected to deliver efficiency gains of 10 to 15 percent, contributing directly to fuel savings and reduced emissions.

Data from the system will inform the placement of new recycling centres for plastics, paper, food, and electronic waste. The initiative was described as laying the groundwork for wider recycling and composting efforts, which depend on efficient collection. It also supports the UAE’s broader strategy to reduce landfill reliance, increase recycling rates, and reach net zero emissions by 2050.

The rollout will begin in municipal areas in October, with bins collected only when full. Tajmee’e’s fleet is set to expand from 11 vehicles at present to 20 by the end of the month, 250 by year-end, and nearly 400 in early 2026.
