Farag took home a hefty monetary prize at the Houston Open 2022, with a comfortable 3-1 victory.
Ali Farag aka ‘Squash Falcon' started the year off on a high note, beating out Wadi Degla compatriot Mazen Hesham at the Houston Open 2022 with a comfortable 3-1 victory and snagging his first-ever Gold level title in the Texan city.
Farag not only took home a hefty monetary prize but also further solidified his position as World No. 1 Squash Player, a spot he’s maintained for five consecutive months now. This latest win in Houston gives Farag his 25th title with an 11-6, 8-11, 11-7, 11-3 triumph. This is the tenth meeting on the PSA World Tour for the two Egyptian players with Farag winning all but one of the matches. Hesham is slowly making a comeback despite a career riddled with injuries.
Following his graduation from Harvard, Egyptian-born Ali Farag rapidly climbed up the world squash rankings, eventually making a name for himself as one of the best in the game. Crowned the Professional Squash Association world champion for the past two years, Farag is keen on keeping the hot streak going.
Egyptian players swept the board at the squash world’s first tournament of the year with veteran Mohamed El-Shorbagy coming in hot at third place followed by Tariq Moamen in fourth and Mustafa Assal in fifth.
