Five ancient Egyptian artefacts have been returned from Kuwait to Egypt, after they were smuggled out of Egypt in 2019 and confiscated by the Kuwait Airport Customs Department.
The items consist of a stone mosaic and four sculptures of Amenhotep III, Amun-Ra, and Horus.
A number of Kuwaiti agencies, including the Foreign Ministry, the Airport Customs Department, and NCCAL, has been working with the Egyptian embassy in Kuwait to investigate and repatriate these antiquities in compliance with international laws.
